A good business case and project plans are essential for an effective project approval process. Unfortunately, projects are often approved on fairly scant information. This results in a lack of clarity in e.g. the aims, objectives, costs or benefits of a project and in the worst cases may result in the wrong projects being progressed.

A comprehensive approach to assembling the business case for a project can be applied using an organisation's own standard template or a generic template based on best practice.

Cost and time will vary according to project and organisational complexity. A face-to-face approach is used.
